1. Overview

This document describes how to install an IOS application from another server, such as the Alliance support server. These steps can also be used to reinstall or update an existing IOS application.

2. Procedure

1. Open REBOL/Link to Alliance (or your source IOS server). Wait to be sure that it is in-sync by watching the progress bar in the lower right corner of the window. That way you will be sure to get the latest updates to the applications. Close the Link once it has finished updating.

2. Open REBOL/Link to your IOS. You must logon as Admin or as a user who has the necessary IOS permissions.

3. Press CTRL-L to open the launch file requestor.

4. Browse to the file directory that contains the installer for the application. On Alliance, all applications are found in the projects/apps directory.

5. Select on the install.r file for the application. The installer will run.

For many applications, you will be asked a question about what you want to do about the data for the application.

For example, if you are installing Conference, you will be asked if you want to keep the current messages and current groups. If you respond "no", then all current messages and groups will be removed. (Note however, that they are not deleted from the server or existing clients, so you can recover the files if necessary).

If you are successful, you should see the progress bar indicate the upload and resynchronization of the application. It should take only a few seconds. Once that has occurred, all users now have the updated application. You may want to Alert your users to the change or post a News article informing them of the update.
